CULTBABY - “Cut The Arm, Preserve The Body: Songs From 2019-2023” Digital Download

Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist CULTBABY, the moniker of Richard Benjamin Greer, is releasing his new nine-song compilation cut the arm, preserve the body: songs from 2019 - 2023, out Friday, February 21st, 2025 via Anxiety Blanket Records.

CULTBABY is a pseudonym that begins the artist’s story, and sets the stage for the  thematic choices of this project. The artist was born from a community that shall be referred to hence forth as The Academy. The Academy was a small Christian Metaphysical organization, existing in Berkeley, CA, from the mid to late 80’s, until undergoing its final form with the “Bishop’s” passing in 2005. CULTBABY was one of several children within the community, and only one of two who went to public school during adolescence. The community of The Academy fractured at various intervals in its history with members gradually leaving. At the age of two this included the artist and his dear mother, which led to the family’s divorce. Vestiges of the community and the artist's beloved father remained close throughout his youth, and still endure as a bittersweet untimely life experience well into the artist’s adulthood.
