Oakland-based artist Asha Wells (they/them) is releasing their sophomore album Sleeping Sand  Friday, November 13th, 2026.

Wells brings the self assuredness of a classically-trained voice, to the unfettered freedom of a being self-taught instrumentalist. With arrangements that feel unlimited and yet laboriously braided. Their work forms a cathartic amalgam of art folk and chamber pop with a new age sonic twist.

Sleeping Sand is a soft yet stirring work that tugs at the edges of reality, offering perspectives the waking mind could not detect. A follow-up to Wells' 2023 album, Water Words, where songs were fished from the stream of consciousness, Sleeping Sand chips away at the marble of the subconscious, creating a work that is purposeful, tactile, and patient.
